Salem is a city located in the south Indian State of Tamil Nadu. Salem is situated right on the base of Yercaud Hills and hence a majestic view of the city can be experienced from the hill top. Yercaud is around 1600 meter high hill. Kiliyur Falls located very near to this place is a site worth watching.
As per population, Salem bags the number fifth position after the famous cities of Chennai on 1st place, Coimbatore on 2nd, Madurai on 3rd, and Trichy on the 4th. Salem is also considered to be part of the Coimbatore and Tirupur regions which are together called as Kongu Nadu.
