Ranchi was a unknown city of India but soon after the partition of Bihar (a northern state of India) a new state Jharkhand was born on November 2000 and this is when Ranchi was made the capital of this newly formed state. Since then political as well as industrial movements have jumped up in this city and slowly but steadily it has started to take part in the growing economy of India. Recently, Ranchi was recognized on the International front when M. H. Dhoni became the captain of India cricket team. Ranchi is the home town of M. H. Dhoni.

Ranchi has many natural as well as manmade tourist hot spots which will surely be a treat to watch for any tourist who hits this city or some other city near it.

Dams have always been a tourist spot in whichever city they were created and Ranchi has been no different. The government understood the importance of Dams and this is when they started concentrating on such projects. As a result the famous Dhurva Dam has become an important tourist spot as well as advantageous for the growing economy of Ranchi. Dhurva Dam is also famous for its sunset which attracts most of the tourists. On the other hand most of the tourists get attracted towards the dam when the news of its water gates being opened spreads around the locality.

Another famous dam of Ranchi is Kanke Dam. This dam isn’t that famous as Dhurva Dam but still one can consider that it plays an important point for the tourism industry of Ranchi.

Rock Garden used to be another famous tourist hot spot in Ranchi but it was closed recently for some unknown reasons. It used to attract many tourists but recently it was shut down totally for the general public.

Ranchi Lake is famous for the stories which are connected to it. It is said to be excavated somewhere in the year 1842 and is located right in the center of Ranchi. Boating facilities are available in this lake and this does attract many locals. It has also become a famous weekend picnic spot.

Tagore Hill is a 300 feet high hill which is located around 5 kilometers from the center of the city. It has also become a nice tourist spot due to its hilly nature.
