Khajuraho is a popular tourist place in India. It is located in Madhya Pradesh, which one of the largest states of India. Khajuraho happens to be in the District of Chhatarpur and it is about 620 kilometers away from the south eastern side of New Delhi, the capital of India. Khajuraho is not a city but a small village and famous amongst tourist for its large number of Hindu temples having erotic sculptures. A numbers of Jain temples are also part of this city and the village of Khajuraho is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Khajuraho is famous for its sexual and erotic sculptures but these erotic sculptures are not present near any deities in the temple. Outside the temple, some carvings have erotic art. Most of the temples in Khajuraho have two walls around the temple and the erotic sculptures are present in the outer covering of inner walls. The population around these temples has several interpretations for these erotic sculptures. Some say that visitors of the deity should leave their sexual desires before entering the temple. Other say that deities are pure as atman (soul) and not affected by this art.
