Div Overview, India -– Enjoy the Beautiful Sun Beaches
Div is one of the sea beaches located in the northern part of Gujarat. Until 16th century, Div was a large port housing large ships. Now, it remains as an island covering an area of around 40 sq. kilometers.
Div Climate
The southern districts are moist whereas the northern regions are dry. The temperature here is pleasant and relatively low because of the Arabian Sea. Winter is usually from November to February, summer from March to May and south-west monsoon season from June to September
Div People
The natives of Gujarat, Gujaratis, dominate the population. The Kutchis, native of the Kutch peninsula, are both Hindus and Muslims.
Div Arts
Bhavai is the folk drama of Gujarat. Lots of music and a number of Ragas like Gujagri Todi are prominent here. Marsias is very a very peculiar way of singing at death times. Many wind type instruments, string type instruments and percussion instruments are used. People perform various dances like Rasa, Hallisaka and Tippani Folk Dance.
Div Culture
Worshippers of the Sun have now developed and taken up a new profession like horse breeding. The Rabaris are cattle breeders and they live a nomadic life. The men in this state wear dhotis and short coats over their shirts and women wear similar clothes to Hindus with an additional scarf on their head.
Div Festivals
Various festivals are celebrated throughout the state. Many festivals are based on the lunar or solar calendar. And one can find that these festivals are linked with myths and traditions. The major festivals celebrated here are Diwali, Holi, Janmashtami and Modhera Dance Festival.
Div Economy
A number of factories and small-scale factories are present in the state. There is a vast development in the industries like chemicals, petrochemicals, engineering and electronics. Various products like wool, silk, petroleum, rubber, coal and food products.
Div Transportation
To reach Div, you can catch a train from Ahmadabad and get off at Veraval station. The city is around 50 miles from here. You can reach it by taking a taxi or bus. Busses also run daily from Ahmadabad.
Div Accommodation
Many good hotels are run by the Gujarat government in Div. Some of the top accommodation facilities include Nilesh, Apna, Ankur and HariKrishna. The hotel charges range from Rs.1000 per day. However, many affordable guesthouses are also available.
Div Restaurants
The Toran restaurant is quite popular because it provides a variety of dishes like Punjabi, Gujarati and South Indian.
