Chandigarh Sights and Landmarks Guide, India
Chandigarh, a Union Territory of India, serves as capital for two different states Haryana and Punjab. Chandigarh is one of those cities, which were planned after the Indian Independence, and hence you won’t find the touch of cultural India in this city. This city reflects the will of modern India towards the fast paced planet. Services of world class architects were taken so as to give this city a world class status.
Although Chandigarh is a fairly new city, that doesn’t mean that it has no tourist spots. Chandigarh is a famous tourist spot in India and loads of tourists enter this city every now and then to enjoy their holidays.
Sukhna Lake happens to be an artificial reservoir, which is located in sector 1st of Chandigarh. This lake happens to be one of the most visited spots in Chandigarh due to its scenic beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Locals who live around the area regularly use the sides for jogging purposes. The lake has all the ingredients that are necessary to attract tourists. It has a cafeteria, an amusement park, some shops, a walking path, and loads of paddleboats to enjoy the environment of this lake. This lake came into existence once a dam was created on Sukhna Choe (a stream that comes from the Shivaliks) and today this lake is the longest of its kind and is being used for yachting and rowing.
Rock Garden is another tourist hot spot which was built after Nek Chand (who happened to be a transport official) who cleared a patch of land to create a tiny garden for his persona use. He then used some stones to build a few sculptures. Somehow, people got interested in this growing collection of statues and they regularly started to visit this place to enjoy his creations.
Rose Garden happens to be another tourist hot spot for those who visit the city of Chandigarh. This garden is the largest rose garden in Asia and is famous for the yearly rose festival that it hosts.
Some other tourist hot spots, which must be visited by those who arrive into Chandigarh, are The High Court building which is actually amazing, The Capitol (it is a collection of some exquisitely built buildings), Pinjore Gardens, and the Secretariat.
