Bombay Sights and Landmarks Guide, India
Have a good time while you’re in Mumbai! Getting around the city is very easy since you will not find it difficult in marveling your way around the city. You’ll surely have a good time while you stay here simply because the city has a lot to present. You won’t even have to worry about how to interact with the inhabitants since English is predominant and widely used in the place. You may simply approach any one of these residents and they would gladly guide you to the places you want to see. Here’s but a few of Mumbai’s must-see places.
Brace yourself in awe once you set your eyes at Mumbai’s Marine Drive. You don’t have to get out of your car to see this magnificent sight. Also known as the Queen’s Necklace, Marine Drive embraces the seashore. It is also one of the busiest roads in the city, but despite that, it’s also the breeziest because of its proximity to the sea.
Enjoy the Chowpatty Beach especially during August or September. During these months, devout Hindu people come to immerse their huge idols of Ganesha hoping to have its blessing. They consider this place as a gastronomic paradise where they get to eat “bhelpuri”, a savory snack. Still a lot of food to choose like chuski ice balls dipped in syrup and a lot more.
Still within the city is the Hanging Gardens, otherwise known as the Ferozeshah Metha Gardens where over 3 reservoirs were built. These reservoirs can store a lot of water used for cleaning. It passes thru these reservoirs before it can be delivered to the whole city of Mumbai.
Still more is the Colaba. It is the center of tourist activity in Mumbai. Colaba is known for numerous street stalls. You’ll also find the most affordable guesthouses and economy hotels in this place. There are still a lot of bazaars like the Kalbadevi and the Crawford Market where you’ll get to see all kinds of products for sale. Don’t forget to visit the Mutton Street which is famous for its antiques - whether it’s true or not, just find it out for yourself.
Also a must-see is the grand Fort area in Mumbai. It has a magnificent architectural design worth millions of dollars. It houses the city’s important financial and commercial center, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Bear this caution: don’t go there during its peak hours from 6:30 - 8:00 PM because traffic is at its worst during those times.
Visit the Gateway of India which is its famous landmark. It was built to commemorate the visit of King George and Queen Mary when they went to India in 1911. It was built with style, in Indo-Saracenic. You’ll have a lot of boating getaways here.
Mumbai still has so much to offer, one day would not be enough. You’d surely want to visit this place over and over again.
