Bikaner is famous for the numerous historical monuments which are built in and around the city. To start with, one can visit the famous Junagarh Fort. Raja Rai Singh is said to be responsible for planning, designing, and building this fort. Raja Rai Singh was the 6th ruler of Bikaner. He overtook the control of Bikaner somewhere in the year 1571 and ruled till the year 1612. Raja Rai Singh enjoyed control over a territory in Gujarat even when Mughals were ruling the country as Mughal Ruler Akbar had granted him control over this category considering his brave mentality. Raja Rai Singh loved to travel from place to place and during these travels he noted the kind of architecture which was prevalent in neighboring places. He was quick to utilize those ideas to build Junagarh Fort.
Moolnayakji is said to be the first Viashnav Temple of Bikaner which was built somewhere in the year of 1486. It was built for the deity Lord Moolnayak Krishna. The temple is famous because of its old architecture and the stories which are attached to it. It holds rich Gujarati culture with it and many rituals, which used to be performed during those early years when the temple was built, are still being carried out.
Laxmi Niwas Palace is another famous palace, which was initially the living place for the king who used to rule the Bikaner State. It was Maharaja Ganga Singh who ruled the State till it was merged with the Indian Union after the Independence of India. This palace was designed somewhere in the year of 1902 by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, a famous British architect. This palace is now being used as a hotel which is run under Golden Triangle Fort and Palace Private Ltd.
Shiv Bari Temple of Bikaner is another tourist hot spot for its design. It was built in early 19th century by Durgar Singh using red sand stone only. It possesses a four faced statue of Shiva, which is built totally of black marble. Huge numbers of visitors visit the temple especially on Mondays due to the various rituals which are performed during these days.
Some other tourist spots in Bikaner City are Raj Ratan Bihariand Rasik Siromani Temple, Public Park and Zoo, Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum, Bhandasar Jain Temple, Camel Farm, and Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary etc.
