Bhilai, the famous Steel City of India, received recognition on Indian national map once the Steel Authority of India planned to launch a Steel Plant in Bhilai. Loads of workers from the rest of the country flowed towards Bhilai for work and finally settled there.
Since then Bhilai has grown exponentially in terms of industry as well as tourism. Many tourists visit Bhilai every year to enjoy the lush green atmosphere and the chain of historical temples. Most of these tourists are relatives of the inhabitants already living in Bhilai!
The area of Deobalod is the nearest site, which boasts of a temple, for the inhabitants of Bhilai. This area is around 3 kilometers from the city of Bhilai and the famous and the oldest Shiv Mandir is situated in this area.
Another option, which is just as close to the city of Bhilai, is Nagpura region. This place is around 2 kilometers from the Drug District. There are the Pasharwanath Tirth and the Jain Temples located in the area of Nagpura.
Another place is Siyadevi which is around 80 kilometers from the District of Durg and around 20 kilometers from the region of Balod. Siyadevi region is famous for the historical temple of Sita Maiya. This temple is located right in the center of lush green forest thus attracting many tourists due to its green surroundings. One can also enjoy a natural waterfall between the months of July and February.
The Balod region (mentioned above) is around 60 kilometers from the Durg District. This place is famous for Sati Chabutra, Mandirs (many temples), and the Prachin Kila (which means Oldest Palace in English). This place is a must visit for tourists who hit upon Bhilai due to its historical importance. If you love to admire history then you need to visit this place.
Hajra Falls is located around 100 kilometers from the city of Bhilai and it is around 150 meters in height. The surroundings of the waterfall comprises of huge hills, dense forests, and lots of tunnels thus increasing the scenic beauty of the fall. The water fall is located on the Mumbai Howrah rail route and has some lodges and bungalows around it for people to stay.
