There are several places to see in Amritsar which attract thousands of tourists each year.  You will find the most popular tourist sites below:

The Durgiana Temple is one of the most famous temples in Amritsar. The temple is devoted to the deity Durga and dates back to 16th century. It is a large, Hindu temple that is dedicated to the Hindu deities and the temple draws a huge number of devotees every year from near and far.

Ram Bagh is a scenic garden that is named after the Guru Ram Das.

The Golden Temple is a great place to visit and holiest temple of the Sikhs. It is a sign of the splendor and power of the Sikh citizens throughout the world.  All Sikh citizens try to come to the temple and bathe in the sacred pool.

Jallian Wala Bagh is another wonderful place in Amritsar. This place is well-known for its most infamous massacre during British rule. It is 400 meters north so you can take a scenic walk the same day you go to visit the Golden Temple. This land was circled with high walls on every side and has a fine alley for passageway. Today this land has been converted into a park commemorating those people who had died and it is now an enjoyable garden. At the east end of the garden there is a huge memorial constructed in memory of those who had died there.

Taren Taran, is a significant Sikh bath close to Amritsar. There is a temple located here, which predates the existence of the city of Amritsar, and a tower is located to the east of the pool which was also constructed by Ranjit Singh. There is a legend that says that anyone who has leprosy and can swim across the bath will be divinely cured.
