Pecs is the fifth largest city in the country and it is the largest city in the region of Mecsek Hill. There are many ways to reach Pecs. The city has its own airport, which opened in 2006, but it only has a few flights. Tourists who come from another part of the globe can book a flight that will arrive at Budapest that is 197km away from Pecs. The city is connected to other parts of the county by railways. Through this means of transport, the travel time between Pecs and Budapest is around two hours and 40 minutes.
There are also trains that link Pecs to cities like Sarajevo in Bosnia, Osijek in Croatia, and to the city of Vienna in Austria. Trains leave daily to the mentioned places. Furthermore, there are many bus lines that serve the city. Every day, trains arrive from and depart to different cities in Hungary as well as other places in the northern region of Croatia.
