The reconstruction of Suez began after the reopening of the Suez Canal followed by the Egypt’s war with Israel in 1973. There are many petrochemical plants in Suez and the finished products are transmitted to Cairo through very long pipelines.

Suez is a neighboring city of many major cities of Egypt including Kafr ad Dawwar, Bandar Damanhur, Izbat as Sibayhi, Sakn el-`Aiyash el-Gharbi, Burg Migheizil and Izbat as Sibayhi.

It is a central station for the pilgrims traveling to and from Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The city has made significant developments. Today, Suez is one of the commercial and port cities of Egypt. Suez provides the excellent views of the Red Sea and Sinai. Heavy transportation is carried out between the Suez and Cairo.
