The city of Larnaca is situated in the Republic of Cyprus and is located in the southern coastal region of this country. The city of Larnaca is said to be the oldest city in the country of Cyprus as many evidences of people living in this city in the last 6000 years have been found successfully. None other cities have been able to provide such evidences. The city of Larnaca has been divided into an old city and a new city. This is the case with almost every Cypriot City. You won’t find many hotels in the older section of Larnaca but in the modern section, you will find lots of restaurants and hotels alongside the beaches.

As per the census of year 2001, the population for the city of Larnaca was around 72000 inhabitants which makes this an important city in the country of Cyprus. It is second best commercial port in the country of Cyprus and it is also an important tourist hot spot for the city. To the northern side of the city is located the famous oil refinery of Larnaca. As of now, this oil refinery is being used only for storage purposes as the refinery wassold to some other company.

On the southern outskirts of the city is the International Airport which is actually the largest airport in the country of Cyprus. The size of this airport reveals that the city of Larnaca is actually an important tourist hot spot in the country of Cyprus. This huge airport is situated around 6 kilometers from the center of Larnaca. There are many scheduled buses which take you to the city from the airport and if you take a taxi then it hardly takes 15 minutes for you to hit the center of this city. The shared taxi system of Larnaca (which is famous by the name of dolmus) connects the important city of Larnaca with many other major cities like Limassol and Nicosia.

While in the city of Larnaca you must visit the nearby village named Lefkara which is very famous amongst foreign tourists for the awesome quality silverware and lace which are sold there. You will also find many independent watchmakers and jewelers that are always ready to present something unique for their customers.
