Zhongshan is one of the cities in the province of Guangdong. It is located at the Pearl River Delta’s western part. The city of Zhongshan is known throughout the country. Other Chinese natives are familiar with the place as well because its name was given in honor of Dr. Sun Zhongshan, who is the Father of Modern China. However, it is only recently that the world started to recognize the splendor of this city.
TravelThe Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is the nearest airport to the city of Zhongshan. To make the travel faster, Zhongshan opened a lounge in the airport’s vicinity where shuttle buses take scheduled trips to the city. The buses leave every hour.
Another way of getting into the city is through water transportation. Five deluxe ferries which are high speed sail from Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong City and Macau ferry terminal to the Zhongshan Passenger Traffic Port. The travel time takes about more than an hour. Passengers should arrive at the port 30 minutes before the ferry departs.
Aside from air and water transportation, tourists can get into the city by means of buses. The main bus station of the city has trips to and from other provinces in the country. Aside from that, it also has buses destined to 15 districts of the Guangdong Province.
Zhongshan has more than 80 bus lines which can take you around the city centre of even into the outskirts. However, the city does not have tourist buses that will take you to specific landmarks.
Taxi rides are also conveniently found around the area. In fact, the city has 14 different taxi companies. The fare depends on the type of the automobile. In addition to that, night trips cost more than day trips.
ClimateThe weather in Zhongshan can be characterized as a subtropical, monsoon climate. In general, it has a mild weather with lots of sunshine and occasional rainfall. During summer season, days are usually very hot and terrible. So the best time to visit the city is during the months of March until May and the last week of September to the first week of December wherein the weather conditions are gentle.

Zhongshan has a lot of beautiful landmarks to brag to the world. It has green parks that will refresh your eyesight, historic sites that show the rich heritage of the city and extensive boulevards where you can explore the beauty of the city. Some of the sights that tourists should visit are Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Memorial Hall, the Museum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Sun Wen Xi Road, Wugui Mountain, Yangtze River, and Zhongshan Park.
