History
Shenyang, which was also called Fengtian and Mukden, was established during the New Stone Age. However, it was during 1625 that it became the capital of China. The Imperial Palace, which was the home of the emperors at that time, was built in Shenyang. It was very large, though it wasn’t as grand as the Forbidden City.
Between 1644 and 1911, Shenyang was removed from being the main Chinese city and became a secondary capital. By 1931, a tragedy known as the Shenyang incident happened and it literally began the Japanese occupation in the city. A puppet government was then established and lasted until the end of World War II.
Education
There are different schools all over Shenyang. A number of them are run by the government, though few are under the administration of a private corporation or individual. There are also special centers for English language training. Popular universities and colleges in Shenyang include the Shenyang Agricultural University, Northeastern University and the China Medical University.

The Shenyang Taoxian International Airport is one of the biggest and the most effective modes of transportation in the city. It is approximately 20 kilometers away from Shenyang.
