Nanking History, China
Nanking is also famous by many other names in the country of China. Some of these names are Nanjing, Nanching, and Nánjīng. Nanking is the postal map spelling which is used by the postal office of China. Other names are either connected with history of Nanking or modernization of Nanking.
King Fuchai (the last ruler who ruled the historical state Wu of China) is said to be the person responsible for laying the foundation for the city of Nanking somewhere in 495 B.C. Although he had started his settlement in the same area with the name of Yecheng but slowly as more settlements came in the city of Nanking experienced heave constructions and destructions and these were enough to permanently strengthen the roots for the city of Nanking in the same area.
Somewhere in 229 A.D. the city of Nanking was expressed by the name of Jiankang. Sun Quan was the ruler of Wu State during those days and he had shifted his capital to the city of Jiankang during those years. The city of Jiankang remained the capital of South China till the arrival of Sui Dynasty. The city lost its monuments and economical acceleration during the rule of Sui Dynasty but remains of human settlement continued to show up in the same region.
During the 937 A.D. the Tang dynasty overtook the control of Nanking and slowly the city started to grow in terms of economy. Ming dynasty overtook the city of Nanking by 1368 and gave it the tag of China’s Capital City. The Great Wall of China was built during these years itself. Around 200000 workers had worked day and night for over 21 years to complete the longest wall ever constructed on this planet.
Qing Dynasty took the administration of Nanking by 1644 and continued to rule the region till 1911 although the remains of their control continued till 1928.
World War II heavily affected the city of Nanking as it was occupied by the Japanese Army somewhere in year 1937. By the year 1949 the city of Nanking was finally under the control of People’s Republic of China. The city of Nanking has faced heavy turmoil in its past but in recent years this city has grown exponentially and is today a modernized city.
