The city of Hohhot (also spelled as Huhhot or also as Huhehot) is situated somewhere in the North Central region of China. The city of Hohhot is also the capital city for the Mongol Autonomous region which is also famous by the name of Inner Mongolia. This autonomous region is located somewhere in the northern section of China. In the locals Chinese language the name of this city is Hū Shì or Qīng Chéng or else in simpler form called as Hu-town by the tourists. The city of Hohhot is famous amongst tourists for the rich historical culture which it possesses. This historical culture has made the city of Hohhot as one of the most famous tourist hot spots in Inner Mongolia.

As per the census of year 2005 the city of Hohhot had around 88 percent of Han Chinese population, around 10 percent was of Mongol origin, around 1.5 percent was Hui, and around 1 percent was Manchu, while the rest were other smaller minorities who had migrated to the city during historical years. Two languages which are spoken the most in this city of Hohhot are Mongolian and standard Mandarin. Recently the younger generation has shown its inclination towards the national language Chinese.

The cuisine for the city of Hohhot is mostly Mongolian or else many types of dairy products. The national level dairy companies which have their offices in many cities of China have their headquarters in the city of Hohhot. The two national level dairy companies are Mengniu and Yili. Same is the reason why dairy products are so famous in the city of Hohhot. One of the very famous drinks in the city of Hohhot is the well known Mongolian Drink which is called as suutei tsai. This actually means milk tea in English Language. This drink has these days become the must have drink during breakfast for any local or even for any tourist that hits this city. Along with cuisines that hit the city of Hohhot from different parts of China, you will also get the chance to enjoy many Korean and Muslim restaurants which are present in many parts of the city. Two more famous cuisines for the city of Hohhot are shaomai and hot pot.
