Hengyang Sights and Landmarks Guide, China

With the area of thirty-four square kilometers/ thirteen square miles,Hengyang is located on body of water that’s named Xiangjiang river. The north of which is an area popular for tourists because of the ‘Nan Yue (southern mountain)’. It is located in between 110 32’- 113 16’ east longitude and 26 07’ - 28 02’ north latitude. It is known to be a cultural city.

Another piece of nature’s beauty that is considered to be China’s Five Sacred Mountain is the Heng Moutain. The mountain’s location runs a hundred and fifty kilometers (150km) between the area of Hengyang and Changsha, having the cluster with 72 peaks. The mountain is the only place in the south part of China that is enveloped with snow in winter and is a very nice summer destination.

The Nanyue Temple, which is found at the bottom part of the mountain, is believed to be one of those well-preserved temples in the Southern China. There, religious rituals in such grand presentations are held yearly in mid-August. It is composed of nine courtyards and a main hall of 22 meters tall, with support of the seventy-two pillars of stone that symbolizes the seventy-two peaks of the mountain. Covered in glazing red and yellow, it covers the 98, 500 sq. meters of the place linking many buildings that enables it to represent a complex of grand palace.

Another nice and irresistible attraction very pleasant to be seen is the Water-Screen Cave that is found at the foot of Zigai Peak. As you walk along that brook and as you pass the stone bridge, you’ll see those stones of different poses and carvings. On the northern part stands the Shigu Hill with great pride and honor. It is known to be the most visited scenic attraction of the place with a name that was created because of its two-meter tall huge drum-shape rock on its summit.

With the culture and nature combined, the scenic beauty of the Hengyang is worth to be captured with the naked eyes.
