Guiyang is a prefecture level city for People’s Republic of China. It is part of Guizhou province and is located on the banks of River Nanming. The city of Guiyang has experienced exponential growth in last 20 years and very quickly it has become an important city for People’s Republic of China. Two major points for the city of Guiyang, which are considered heart of the city, are Big Ten (a cross) and Big Fall (a fountain right in the center of a rondpoint).

The city of Guiyang comparatively humid and hence it can be a problem for those foreign tourists who aren’t used to such temperature. Summers are hot and winters aren’t that cold. This doesn’t mean that temperature in summers touch extremes. During winter, the average maximum temperature is around 10 degrees Celsius while the average maximum temperature for summers is around 28 degrees Celsius. The city experiences rain throughout the year and this has always acted as a relief for Guiyang.

As per the census of year 2003, the city of Guiyang has the population of around 3.5 million inhabitants. Around 23 minorities are also part of this population. The famous Han ethnic group is the dominant one in the city of Guiyang.

In last few years, the city of Guiyang has become an important city when it comes to economical growth for the Guizhou Province. Amongst the 569 cities of China, Guiyang ranks at 20th spot.

The land in which the city of Guiyang is situated has been found to be very rich in bauxite ore. Guiyang is also a major business hub for aluminum export. Coal mining is another important business which drives the economy of Guiyang. Coal mining has been a major reason behind the continuous supply of electricity in the city. A huge iron and steel plant was also started in the city of Guiyang somewhere in 1960. Chemical industry for fertilizer and rubber industries for tires etc. are also booming in the industrial area of Guiyang. Textile business is also on the rise in the city of Guiyang. All this is enough to reflect that the city of Guiyang has grown exponentially in terms of industries. So has grown the economy of Guiyang.
