Sydney- city of festivals and great tourist attractions

Sydney also popularly called as the Steel City is the third biggest city of Nova Scotia and also serves as a main industrial center for rest of the Atlantic Canada. Ideally located on Sydney harbor shores, this beautiful city is a famous stopover for the cruise ships over the Atlantic Shore. The historic community of this city is the foundation of legendary region of Cape Breton and flaunts off various landmarks and buildings dating back to the year 1786. This exceptionally stunning city was duly incorporated in the year 1904, dissolving in 1995 when Sydney was combined in a regional municipality. This city of Sydney is also the biggest urban center on the island of Cape Breton. Along with North Sydney, Glace Bay, New Waterford and Sydney Mines, the city forms the region of Industrial Cape Breton.

Transportation system of the city

The marine terminal of Sydney welcomes a large number of cruising ships each. Even Sydney airport offers an important transportation link between the city and its neighborhood areas. As far as the education system of this marvelous city is concerned, it is home to 2 public schools, including Holy Angels High School and Sydney Academy. As of 2001, the city of Sydney had a population of about 24,115. The popular festivals celebrated in Sydney with great enthusiasm and spirits include:

Attractive festivals and events

Celtic Colours International Festival- it is a festival that celebrates traditions of Celtic society. The festival is popular for featuring shows and performances by highly renowned Celtic dancers as well as musicians from all across the world. The festival is conducted in autumn.

North Sydney Bartown Festival- This festival is a fun-filled and exciting one that occurs on North Sydney’s waterfront. This event features a wide range of entertainment like parades, main stage performances, treasure hunt, children’s activities, beach party and fireworks. The best part about this event is that the entry is free so that everybody can enjoy the celebrations.

Cape Breton International Drum Festival- This festival is famous for showing the performances and true skills of some of the greatest drummers of the world to offer non-stop drumming experience to the people.
