Ouagadougou is the capital city of West-African state Burkina Faso and the country’s largest city that functions as the nation’s administrative, economic and cultural centre. It has a population of 1,475,000 and the main spoken languages are French and Moore. It has a very hot climate with average temperatures of 30 degrees during the rainy season (May – October), 19 degrees in the cold season (December – January) and up to 45 degrees in the hot season (March – May). The city’s economy is based on food processing and textiles and although the literacy level is quite low, the city has ten universities.
