Anderson Travel Guide, British Virgin Islands
Peter Island is one of the 60 islands that make up the British Virgin Islands and it is one of the most representative, its beauty and paradise like charm attracting visitors from all over the world.
Peter Island is the fifth largest island from the British Virgin Island group covering 1,800-acre just four miles south of Tortola. it has more than 20 secluded coves and five dream beaches. It proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Sir Francis Drake Channel makes its location perfect for water sports lovers. There is one big resort that rests on the private island.
The visitor will soon feel a warm welcome as he won’t be taken aback by luxurious facilities, grandiose buildings that would not fit in the picture. Everything is kept simple and yet elegantly beautiful Caribbean style blending perfectly with the environment which is breathtaking: wonderful clean sandy beaches, mild climate that keeps the winds at a peaceful peace and so you can enjoy swimming without having to confront with big waves.
Services here are spotless from great dining, respected privacy, and great rental possibilities for water sports equipment to spa facilities. But besides great services what makes you really feel comfortable is the fact that there are great chances to find someone of your own nationality whether they will be travelers like you or working on the island. But probably the most tourists are European. The great cultural diversity adds to the appeal of the island and makes communication easier.
Who does this island appeal to? It really appeals to everyone, couples, singles or families and it is not only for the rich and famous, you don’t have to have a huge budget to be able to get here; there are plenty of cheap deals you can find if you really look for them. The resort is also welcoming for both active and relaxation based people as it offers a great number of activities as well as the privacy and quiet spots for relaxation.
So one minute you can be in the middle of the action and the other one in total serenity by escaping in the deserted part of the island which is favored by hikers, bikers, bird-watchers and all those who want to come in contact with nature at a deeper level.
You don’t have to be afraid of encountering some dangerous wildlife as it is quite scarce. Besides a lot of birds you will probably see some iguanas and cats. You can explore all five beaches as they are all unique and range in size from the mile long Big Reef Bay Beach to the small Honeymoon Beach, and then there are the 20 coves you can explore by boat. If you want a more panoramic view you can see Sir Francis Drake Channel and neighboring islands. You can even have privacy and find your secluded spot on the beach, take a picnic basket (just ask the staff) and enjoy a whole day with your sweetheart undisturbed. Best place for it is White Bay Beach.
Back in the resort you can have excellent spa treatments in one of the 10 treatment rooms, enjoy great culinary recipes, join the yacht club or choose one of the countless activities and roam the boutiques for souvenirs.
The great services, the flexible and devoted staff, superb views, great facilities and various ways of spending your time make Peter Island Resort a true paradise and rank it among the most sought destinations on earth.
