Maceio is the capital of the State of Alagoas in Brazil. The lively people and the cheerful, vibrant atmosphere of the city have given it another name ‘the city of the smile’. The city also has a very interesting look because you can find a few lagoons in the region where the city was built.

Maceio has a number of popular tourist spots that have made it very popular among the travelers. There are beautiful beaches with clean, white sands and plenty of coconut trees. These beaches are very popular with the tourists as well as the locals. The cool air from the seaside is so refreshing that you would not like to go anywhere else.

There are some beaches with natural swimming pools too. Pajucara and Praia dos Sete Coqueiros are two examples of these beaches. The lovely green and warm water is so inviting and the food available in the restaurants on these beaches is fabulous.

You can find tall coconut trees wherever you look. You must try the coconut water that is sweet and very refreshing.

Some famous museums of the city are the Pierre Chalite Museum and the Theo Brandao Museum. Both are beautifully built and very well maintained. The Pierre Chalite Museum is known for Sacred Art. You can take a trip to the Old Maceio and catch a glimpse of how the city looked in its past. If you are planning a trip in the month of June, don’t miss the celebrations of Festas Juninas.

You can also organize some lovely excursions to various beautiful places such as Barra de Santo Antonio, Praia do Gunga and Praia do Frances.

Maragogi and its resort is also a good place to go to. Some other places like Barra de Sao Miguel and Sao Miguel dos Milagres on the Northern coast are also beautiful.

All these reasons make Maceio a very successful tourist destination.
