Guarulhos Sights and Landmarks Guide, Brazil
Guarulhos in Brazil is quickly becoming a tourist destination because of its close proximity to San Paulo. San Paulo is considered to be one of the most cosmopolitan cities in all of Brazil.
Travel to Brazil will require a passport and with today’s security concerns, be sure you allow yourself time to apply and receive your passport before your departure date. You don’t want to turn back at customs and miss this exciting area to visit. When in Brazil, remember that cheek kissing is very common. While it won’t be rude, trying to shake hands when someone is offering a kiss may be considered odd.
Nearly everyone can dance and Brazilians are very at ease with their bodies. Normally, they stand closer than Europeans or Americans, and have a tendency to touch more frequently. Most will touch an arm or shoulder during a conversation and tourists should not be offended by this familiarity.
The Bosque Maia Botanic Garden is a point of interest in this industrial city, as well as a large shopping mall. Just a short distance from the Botanical Gardens, this shopping mall is one of the high points of Guarulhos. The mall houses a large variety of shops, with something for everyone. Just across the river, visitors will find San Paulo very appealing to visitors and locals alike. Restaurants, shopping, and a varied nightlife are all available here. The hotels are cheaper in Guarulhos than in San Paulo, and a taxi will get you over to the bustle of San Paulo for very little money. Concerts, operas, art museums, and theaters are available in San Paulo, as well, for the art connoisseur.
The Museum of Contemporary Art displays pieces by Picasso and Matisse. The Modern Art Museum has the largest display of colonial art in all of Brazil.
