Salzburg History

Salzburg 2008By the end of the 7th century the once flourishing city was nearly ruined and it was in this devastated state that Saint Rupert received it as a gift from the Duke of Bavaria. Saint Rupert established St. Peter's Abbey and named the city Salzburg. The city’s first bishop remains the city’s patron saint even to this day. read more
