Stockholm History
The city started growing quickly in the 14th and 15th centuries, with the introduction and addition of the cities, Normalm and Sodermalm. The Old Town of Stockholm has signs of the German descent of the city; but it was Gustav Vasa who was responsible for making Sweden the absolute sovereign it is now. And it was he who declared Stockholm to be the political front of Sweden. This was however not until the year 1634. Stockholm saw more changes towards the last of the 17th Century with the construction of large fortresses and manors by rich businessmen, royal ambassadors and horsemen.
