Hi dear friends, I just want to share with you my experience at Brasov, what I decide to visit with the gang from Covasna. Brasov is one of the most beautiful cities in Romania. I just about 1 hour of traveling from Covasna with the bus, actually it’s called Maxi-Taxi.

We arrived at Brasov, and we was really lucky because one of us is living in this city, so he guide us through the city, and show us the best places of the city.

First we visited the Black Church. You should know one thing about Brasov. A lot of the building has in the name the Black, because in 21 April 1689 was a great conflagration in the city, most of the building was harmed by the flames, so this is why a lot of building have the Black color in his name, referring to this great disaster.

The Black Church actually was renovated but some part of it was leaved burned as a spectacle for visitors, you can see grime on the walls. You can’t take pictures interior; it is really kept in secret. In the church you will find the biggest collection of carpet in Europe. It is just amazing.

After this amazing church, we visited the castle of Brasov, just situated almost in the center of the city. It is in really good estate, like a museum however it is free to enter and walk around.

You can’t miss out to take a look above the city from the medieval towers, it is really great.

End the end of the day we arrived at the hill called Timpa near the city with cable-car. The vision from that place it is just amazing, you can see the entire city. And we find a really funny thing here. At the top of the hill you can find giant letters like in Hollywood just showing BRASOV.

After this great but fatiguing we just arrived back to Covasna and after a short briefing we gone to sleep like a baby.

Brasov History

Bran CastleThe situation changed as the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman empires began to show signs of weakness. By the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, all the regions of Romania were symbolically united by a wave of patriotic awakening. Romanians had schools, churches and a newspaper in their native language, and were even granted citizenship for several decades – they soon lost it as a consequence of the Bourgeois Revolution on 1848. By this time, the major ethnic groups living in Brasov were mainly Saxons and Romanians, followed by Hungarians, Jews and Greeks.... Read more »
