We went there with the university and spent altogether 8 days listening to reports and regarded some exceptional buildings and findings. The weather was also great, but it was very exhausting, listening students for 6 hours a day.

This ancient city is really a place you must have seen if yoiu are around. Even when you arent interested in history, it shows you an impressive spot of the roman way of living.

You should plan your walk around the city's area, because there is a huge mass to see so and you cant nearly take a look at all buildings and findings if you just walk around. You should start from the main entrance and go over to the public market place than, called "forum" in latin. There you can see the rests of the Apollon temple and by the Basilika, which use was to compare a little bit with a goods exchange and court place. There's also located the Marcellum, still showing great pictures on the wall in fresco technology and pompeian style.

You should also take a look at the great amphitheater and the scholl of gladiators directly next to it. You can also take a walk around the ancient city walls an see the grave monuments of some noble man, located at the streets running into the city.

I could keep on writing what you should see there, there're also a huge mass of villas, exceptionally equipped with paintings, marble statues and other things. Go there and take a look yourself!

The third picture is actually an gypsum casting of the shape of a real ancient roman body. It´s shapes have been preserved in the ashes by the volcano.

I was wondering regarding the third photo, is it a marble structure of a body? Or a marble sculpture?

Valdobbiadene Travel guide

This wine holds the tradition, history and culture of the people living in the Valdobiadene and the surrounding area. Besides taking long walks and riding on the tracks of these hills there are quite a few activities you can emerge yourself into in this little community. There is a swimming pool where locals usually go to swim, it is not for leisure, sports fields and of course a few restaurants and bars where you can taste the local food. You can walk the trails of Mount Cesen, part of the Pre-Alps of Treviso and discover the beauty of white or grey rocks of this Regional Reserve. History is on the way as you can still see the ruins of... Read more »
