Our ship stopped near the old center of Szentendre. Of course here are the most of the souvenir shops of the town :) Many of the tourists stop here and buy something... there are hand-made things, paintings, old photos, postcards and of course many other things too which are totally useless, they just buy them to spend money...

The old city center is not too big. No cars can enter this part of the city which is a very good thing. There are nice buildings, little shops and narrow streets.

Here we found two shops which I can recommend you. If you are at the central square of the city you will see the sign which is on picture 11. 'Langos' is a kind of pancake which can be served with sugar, but mostly with sour cream and cheese. It's really delicious :)

The other shop is a chocolate shop. If you follow the signs which are leading to the train station you will see this little shop on your right. You have to go down a few steps to enter. It's a little place full of different kinds of chocolates, coffee and tea.

We also walked a bit on the 'Duna korzo' which is a street near the Danube river.

Szentendre Sights

Once you have been in Szentendre, you cannot wonder why it is called the town of arts and museums. Tens of museum and art galleries welcome you here in this small town of 20,000 people. Since the 20th century, numerous artists were driven here, inspired by the serenity and beauty of the town and its surroundings. The Open-Air Ethnographic Museum, with exhibits reflecting the folklore architecture and culture of the Carpathian basin, is probably the most renowned one of the several museums. Visitors can view the artworks of the Ferenczy family at the Károly Ferenczy Museum, exhibits of surreal visual arts at the Anna Margit... Read more »
