Crested Butte, just as its name suggests, is a secluded resort in southwest Colorado three miles from the town of Crested Butte. Its location in the middle of Gunnison National Forest and the Elk Mountain Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains is unique. In such a place you can really say you are alone with your thoughts and it gives you the freedom to find yourself.

Some see it as a good point, and I’d say this is the perfect location for a winter resort, a place where you can run away from all the hassle. Peaceful and relaxing, just what you need for your holiday.

It is not difficult to get to the resort though United Airlines offers seasonal daily Airbus jet service from Denver to the Gunnison/Crested Butte Airport which is 31 miles/48 km from the resort.

Crested Butte has all the ingredients for a great ski experience, offers everything you could possibly desire for a complete winter vacation and more. Located near town of Crested Butte which is only 3 miles away you will have the chance to visit one of Colorado’s largest National Historic Districts. It is a charming town and you will be pleased to walk its streets. The resort itself is bustling with action and even if it is far away from the big cities you will find plenty of things to do to fill up your time. Some days can be full of activity; while others can be spent enjoying a late breakfast, a relaxed stroll, some time browsing through stores, and later, dining at leisure.

For full action head to the place under the Paradise Lift and check out the Canaan Terrain Park which is open to all ages and all levels. For intermediates to advanced riders there are plenty of rail features. Plenty of action is going on in the historic town of Crested Butte at the Crested Butte Nordic Center which features sledding hill, skate skiing, snowshoeing, guided backcountry tours and an ice rink.

When you hit the slopes you want to make sure you child has a great day too. At the Kid’s Park you can be sure that your child receives the best care possible and has a great time to boot! It features rails, tabletops, rolls and a mini half pipe. They will be able to practice skiing, snowboarding and snow skating and fun can go on during the day at the top of Painter Boy featuring a children’s tubing hill and during the night at the base of the Red Lady Express and at the Kids’ World where they can enjoy a Kids’ Night Out! Both parents and kids will have a great time together. Kids can ski down green terrain and experience the thrill of being on the slopes at night and then they can watch a movie, eat pizza or go for other fun activities at the new CB Zone.

Another best thing about Crested Butte is that they have not forgotten the people with disabilities and at the Adaptive Sports Center they can learn alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and snowboarding and they can also enjoy outdoor recreation activities in the warmer seasons.

The charming historic town, the nightlife, the mountains, the sun, the snow, all the fun and excitement, and the resort’s “Extreme Limits” terrain, make people who have visited the resort state that it is genuine, sophisticated, unpretentious and fun offering some of the best extreme skiing in the world.

It's the feeling of being on top of the world in a majestic natural setting that lure people to this place where the spirit is set free from the everyday, a place like nowhere else.
