Every city has that bar or club that is just a bit different from the rest and doesn’t manage to fit into the conventional standards. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing, although you will need a few minutes to get used to some of the following bard. Innovation, creativity, genius or just craziness?

That’s up to you to decide, but in any case, you’re guaranteed to be astounded at least a bit by what you’ll see in these places. Here’s a list of the top 5 weirdest bars in the world.

Giger Bar, Chur & Château St Germain, Switzerland

Contemporary Swiss artists H.R. Giger is known for his surrealistic and creepy artwork, and for having designed the sets of thrill inducing films like Alien or Poltergeist. Well, he put his talent to good use in his Giger Bars too, and once you step inside you’ll feel like in a scene from the Alien movies.

The atmosphere is dark, almost bone-chilling, and if you’re a happy go lucky person who prefers places with light and bright colors, you won’t feel at home here at all. Horror fans, on the other hand, will have a field trip.

Depeche Mode Baar, Tallinn, Estonia

It’s not every day that you’re fans dedicate an entire bar to you, but Depeche Mode are one of the bands that have a bar named after them. Predictably enough, the bar is filled with Depeche Mode fans, and there is no sunshine and rainbows when it comes to the decor.

For some, the bar looks bleak and depressing, but if you like the band, you’ll be delighted to sit among the merchandise and tour memorabilia, sipping a Personal Jesus cocktail and listening to Depeche Mode albums on repeat mode.

Albatross, Tokyo, Japan

There are many strange bars in Japan, but Albatross takes the cake. This place is not recommended for those of you who suffer from claustrophobia, because the bar is so tiny that you can barely fit 10 people inside. Albatross is located on the infamous Shomben Yokocho or Piss Alley, where every bar shares the same toilet.

The bar has three levels, one of which is a tiny art gallery, and since the space is sparse, the waiters hand you your drinks through a hole in the floor.

Hobbit House, Manilla, Philippines

Tolkien’s furry footed little creatures won’t be waiting on you at the hobbit house, and neither does the bar look like a hobbit burrow. However, the bar’s staff has one thing in common with the hobbits: their height.

The waiters are all little people, and even the doorways are designed so that people of average height will have t bend down if they don’t want to bump their heads. The decor is rustic and the live music famously good.

Nasa, Bangalore, India

NASA is by no means associated with this bar in Bangalore, although astronauts ans sci-fi fans will love the atmosphere here. The waiters are dressed in space suits (and they manage not to be clumsy in them), the decor looks like the interior of a space shuttle, but at least the drinks and bar food are better than what you  get in space.
