The palace is the very hearth of the town and it bears a great importance for the history of the place and its people. There are many buildings built inside its walls dating later periods and they are also well preserved. The City Museum founded in 1946 right here in northeastern part of the palace. It has a lot of Medieval buildings of which the most important being the Gothic palace of the Papalic family, an architectural masterpiece.
