Lark in the Morning is probably the greatest musical instrument store I have seen. Besides the 'classic' instruments they have all kinds of ethnic musical instruments too from all over the world.

You can even try everything you'd like to, from the bongs through the harps to the guitar zither. They have all kinds of instruments for kids and a lot of tuition DVDs for beginners and more advanced musicians, which is really great.

They also have great audio CDs and cassettes from a great variety of different ethnic instruments, I haven't even heard about most of them, so it's also a great place for music-gourmets or for those looking for gifts to music-gourmets. :P

The store is situated nest to Pike Place Market on the First Avenue.

Address:
1411 1st Ave, Seattle, WA 98101, USA

Price:
CDs for about $20
Instrument prices vary, but they are not cheap.

Seattle History

The early settlers looked to the timber industry in order to build up their economy.  They would cut trees and have the logs shipped to San Francisco.  Soon, they were also milling the timber before shipping it.  The arrival of Henry Yesler in Seattle is what made this possible.  He introduced a steam sawmill to the residents of the two settlements and placed it in an area that would make it [...]
