To really experience the Afro-Cuban culture, visiting the small side street called Callejon de Hamel is a must for everyone. It is amazing. The street is named after a rich Spanish trader, Fernando Hamel who provided everything for this district.

The small street is decorated with colorful paintings of Afro-Cuban deities and every Sunday dance and other shows are held on the street, representing rituals in which the Santeria Gods, the Orishas were summoned. It is a cultural jewel, though slowly becoming a tourist hub! Still it's really worth a visit, very beautiful.

Havana Nightlife

Music in Cuba is one of a kind.  There are not a lot of people who can feel the music as Cubans do.  Between the lyrics, the beats and the dancing there is nothing better.  La Tropical is a great hot spot for live music.  However it is only open when there are going to be performances.  The information is normally posted all around the city when there is a show.  If you are looking for a [...]
