We can never be too confident and complacent about leaving our belongings properly. Well, I took it for granted. Being the careless student that I was (I was in Dublin for a short holiday – as I was an intern in a university in the UK, and was complacent as I thought it was a safe place to be). Well, I was busy shopping, and after shopping, I haphazardly placed my wallet in my backpack and zipped it up. Five seconds later, my friend realized that my bag was unzipped – wallet GONE! Moral of the story, don’t take things for granted, and always be mindful of your belongings.
Tip no 1: If you are carrying a backpack, always make sure it is sling to the front. Although it is uncomfortable, it might save you a whole lot of trouble (Thank God for me, my passport was intact).
Tip no 2: If you are not carrying a bag, for men especially, it is advisable to place your wallet in the front pocket, rather than the back.
Tip no 3: A no-brainer – ALWAYS split your cash. Put some in your shoes/boots or different pockets. I learnt it the hard way.

Dublin History

The history of Dublin can be traced back to pre-historic times when the region as a whole saw the evolvement of a civilization that was well aware of the movement of celestial bodies, especially the Sun (the burial chambers in the Boyne Valley are proofs of those times). The area also saw Celtic settlements, the Celts started arriving in the region around 500 B.C.. A proper township, however, was [...]
