I can warmly recommend you to go on a river cruise if you are in Dublin using the Liffey River Cruise. It is a great tour of about 45-50 minutes from the city center to the Docklands and back. It passes under several of the bridges of the Liffey river. There is also a guide on the ship who would talk about the history of the city and the sights you see. The city is very beautiful anyway, but admiring it from a ship from the river gives such a special feeling that I can't even describe. You can only experience it. :)
