Dagupan City History

Dagupan was endorsed to become a city through the execution of the Republic Act No. 170 created by the spokesperson Eugenio Perez. President Manuel Roxas had approved it into an Act on June 20, 1974. In addition, President Roxas had subjected the executive Order No. 96 on October 15, 1974 setting up the city restrictions to incorporate the towns of Pangasinan, Calasiao and San Fabian. However, the people of Calasiao cast off its insertion into the fresh city that resulted to disagreement. An election was conducted on November 10, 1974.
