The attractions of El Djem, Tunisia

This city would not be worth a visit if there wasnt the famous amphitheatre of El Djem there. Very well preserved, it's worth to take a look and a couple of pictures.
But the modern village isn't really worth a visit. There are only some tourist shops and bars around that ancient place, but the rest of the town looks like a slum, so nothing much.
So just go there, if you are on a trip by car and dont take too much time for that place, you'll be otherwise disappointed.

The cathedral boasts 240 well preserved funerary galleries that make for an interesting and historically enriching visit. Perhaps the greatest attraction the city can offer is not within the city walls itself. Sixteen kilometers north of the city gates lie the ruins of... Read more »
