Peniscola (Stadt im Meer)

Über Peniscola

Peniscola liegt mitten im spanischen Mittelmeer. Auf der Insel fehlen Orangen-, Oliven- und Mandelbäume natürlich nicht. Das Meer ist im Sommer und im Herbst immer sehr warm. Außerdem war Peniscola früher ein päpstlicher Sitz.

Sehenswürdigkeiten

Die Burg von Peniscola wurde 1922 als Internationale Kunsthistorischen Sehenswürdigkeit ausgezeichnet. Sie liegt auf dem zweiten Platz nach der Alhambra von Granada der meistbesuchten spanischen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Templerburg ist auch wegen ihrer Architektur und Geschichte die herausragenste Sehenswürdigkeit der Stadt. Die große Stadtmauer wurde zwischen 1576 und 1578 erbaut. Das Stadttor Portal Fosc, auch Portal de Felipe genannt, ist eines der drei Zugänge zum historischen Viertel Peniscolas. Weitere historische Bauwerke sind zum Beispiel: Der Pfarrtempel und der Virgen del Socorro, der Artillerie-Park, mit vielen Pulvermagazinen, die von großen Palmen und Gärten umgeben sind.

Spiel und Spaß

Der Nordstrand Peniscolas Strand ist sehr schön. Das Meer dort ist sehr ruhig und der Strand ist ideal zum Sonnen. Es gibt dort auch regelmäßige Veranstaltungen, wie Beach-Volleyball oder Spiele für Kinder. An dem Strand kann man auch Segelboot, Kanu oder Tretboot fahren. Die Südküste Peniscolas ist sehr felsig und abschüssig. Es gibt dort nur kleine Strände. In der Nähe der Küste liegt das Naturschutzgebiet Sierra de Irta. Dort gibt es Berge mit der maximal Höhe von 573 Meter. In den kleinen Buchten von der Irta-Küste kann man sehr gut Angeln und Tauchen.
