Satu Mare is a small town in Romania, having almost 100.000 inhabitants. It is located in the north-western part of Romania, in Satu Mare County, at 13 km from the border with Hungary and at 24 km from the border with Ukraine. The principal river that traverses it is the Somes River.

The main atractions of the town are: the old ceter of the town where you can see buildings with nice architecture like the Romano Catholic Cathedral, Dacia Hotel and others. The main point of atraction in the old center of Satu Mare is the Firemans Tower wich has 49 m in height and wich was restarated 2 years ago becoming accesible for tourists.

Also Satu Mare impreses the visitors with the modern architecture of the buildings situated in the new center of the town like, the Mayor's House and the Culture House. The mayors house was some years ago the firs building in height in Romania, now it's the second due to the Intercontinental Hotel located in Bucharest.

Other points of atraction for the tourists whom are visiting Satu Mare can be: Lupa Capitolina's Statue, Vasile Lucaciu's Memorial House, The County Museum, The North Theatre, The Episcopal Palace and The Reformat Chain Church wich was build in the 18th century.

So you'll write 'Satu Mare is a small town' instead of 'Satu Mare is a small city'? :) However, how I know Satu Mare is the center of Satu Mare county so it cannot be so small. :) But it's ok, keep going and don't mind my scoff, Regards.

Satu Mare Travel guide

Oas Mountain, a part of Carpathian mountain ranges, offers chilly winds from the north. This can make Satu Mare excessively cold in winter at times. The climate is relatively moderate during summers and this is considered to be the best time for visitors.People Most locals are Romanian, but it also has a neat spread of ethnic Hungarian minority. The Hungarian natives are more industrious and prone towards agriculture. People of the city are diligent in work and aim towards establishing a stronger industry. They are also very hospitable. When in Satu Mare, you can look to explore its vistas.... Read more »
