Location and Climate
The city of Cluj Napoca is placed in the center of Transilvania at the intersection of the Apuseni Mointains, the Somesan plateau and Transilvania's plain.There are many small rivers that traverse the city situated in the heart of Transilvania but the most important river is Somesul Mic. The city of Cluj Napoca is sorrounded by forests existing there two known botanical reservations Fanetele Clujului and Valea Morii Reservation. The climate of Cluj Napoca is a continental moderate one and in the Fall and Winter it has some atlantic influences from west. The medium annual temperature of the air is 8.2 C
Culture
Cluj Napoca is an important center of culture hosting various cultural and educational institutions. Lucian Blaga National Theater was opened on the 1st of december 1919 and it's placed in Piata Avram Iancu and it's the most important theatral institution of Transilvania. The same building hosts also the Romanian Opera. Also there is a museum network that includes the following museums: The Art Museum, The National Museum of History of Transilvania, The Pharmacy Museum and The Zoological Museum.
Education
The city of Cluj Napoca is also know like one of the oldest university centers in Romania. There can be found the bigest University in Romania, Babes-Bolyai. The name of the University comes from two important persons in Transilvania, the resercher Victor Babes and the mathematician Janos Bolyai. Also the city has some other universities like The Tehnical University, The University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
