The Great Sights of Lonavala

Lonavala is a stunning location with splendid hills that bloom with a variety of vegetation. It is located 625 meters above sea level in the state Maharastra. It is 70 kms away from Pune and 128 Kms from Mumbai. There are railway and road communication to the hill station. The entire hill station is bestowed with the numerous natural beauties of Lonavala and fully covered with clouds.

Marvelous attraction of lakes and gardens: There are a number of marvelous places to visit which attract many people every year. There is a huge number of lakes around Lonavala which is the key point of attraction for many visitors who come to see the clear waters of these lakes. The lakes are known as Tugauli, Lonavala, Bhushi and the Valvan Lake in which the latter has a beautiful dam. There is also a number of flora that surround these lakes.

Rajmachi Park: There is a beautiful garden named Rajmachi Park that can be seen on the way to Mumbai. It is located before the Ghat which offers a spectacular view of the surrounding area. It is heavenly felt when you are in this garden because you will see two exquisite man made beauties the towers of Rajmachi Fort which are located due east of the park. There is a long valley at the bottom of the garden. You can stay here and treat yourself to the delicious food from the restaurant located nearby. There is also a beautiful temple there. Many devotees stay there to get the blessings from the temple. The adults enjoy the garden where as the children enjoy playing in the nearby children’s park.

Rye wood garden: one of the most beautiful gardens of the British period are situated near Lonavala. An English officer by the surname Rye stayed there for numerous years. The garden is covered with a lot of majestic tall trees. The garden looks like a wooden jungle from a distance. Hence it is known as the Rey wood. The word might have come from the Marathi word” Rai” which means very thick forest. An old temple of Mahadeo is in that park which draws the devotees especially the women on Mondays. The garden was well settled and properly cared for by the civil department but in 1959 it was transferred to the forest department of the state government.

Other beautiful attractions that are located in Lonavala are the following locations: Duke’s nose, Kune falls, Tigers leap, monkey hill, Karala and Bhaja.
