Japan has had a really bad 2011, and as unfortunate as that was for the Japanese, there is a bright side to it for tourists. Tokyo has many affordable attractions, like museums and galleries, and many of its sights are free (all the beautiful temples, parks and the plain spectacular spots like Harajuku or Ginza).
