Top 5 paragliding destinations in the world
For an adrenaline junkie, paragliding is one of the most exciting adventures you can try. If you’re one of those people who are just n satisfied with keeping their feet on the ground, you can give yourself some artificial wings and see the world from above.
There are tons of beautiful places on the planet which would look astounding from the air, but when it comes to paragliding, it’s better to stick with destinations that have been tried before and are known to be safe (as safe as it can get with an extreme sport, anyway). So for the curious adventurers, here are the top 5 paragliding destinations in the world.
Manali, India
The beautiful hill station of Manali is one of the most idyllic destinations in India, especially if you want to relax in the middle of nature without entirely letting go of civilization.
The astounding scenery at Manali makes it a perfect paragliding spot. The slopes of Solang Valley, for example, offer a great view of the mountains and the town of Manali as well.
La Clusaz, Haute-Savoie, France
The commune of La Clusaz is a charming Alpine ski resort close to the Swiss border, which turns into a wonderful paragliding destination in summer (in winter too, if you are prepared to brave the cold). You can book paragliding tours in La Clusaz at the tourism office – that’s all you need to do to be graced with some of the most amazing views in Europe.
Iquique, Atacama Desert, Chile
Iquique attracts surfers and paragliders alike, because there are excellent conditions for both of these wind-powered sports. The dry land and high cliffs around the city make a great view from above. Sure, most of what you’ll see is sand, but the scenery has a stark and wild beauty that no paraglider should miss.

Herd Peak is one of the best paragliding destinations in California – it is a high desert area where you can see some spectacular views of juniper fields.
The ground is soft, which more or less guarantees easy landings. Although it is considered to be a privately owned area, it’s not difficult to arrange a visit and a lengthy paragliding session.
Tiger Mountain, Taiwan
Tiger Mountain is popular with hikers as well, who enjoy the scenery just as much as any potential paraglider. Tiger Mountain is one of the Four Beasts Mountains (the others being Elephant Mt, Leopard, and Lion), and while all four have some incredible views, Tiger Mountain is by far the most accessible.
