  • Top 5 most fashionable cities in the world

Fashion and traveling don’t seem to have much to do with one another, right? The image of the weary and dusty traveler who just came back from climbing a mountain or exploring a village in Siberia is not exactly the kind of person that one would call fashionable.

But loving to travel and loving fashion are not mutually exclusive, so if you love both of them, we would like to propose a trip for you: how about visiting the most fashionable cities in the world? Fashion capitals are many, but only a few cities in the world can be said to create fashion through what their inhabitants wear. So pack up your Sunday bests, and visit the top 5 most fashionable cities on the planet.

    Tokyo

What people usually wear in some of Tokyo’s neighborhoods would be considered fit for the catwalk in other places that are less developed from a sartorial point of view. Especially the districts of Harajuku and Shibuya are famous for their innovative designs. It’s not only the shops in Tokyo that launch new trends, it is the youth culture whose main concern seems to be to dress as fashionably as they can.

Take a stroll through Harajuku on a Sunday afternoon and you will see outfits that will probably inspire the next collection of some famous designed or another. So if you want to get an update on the freshest trends, Tokyo is definitely the place to go.

    New York

The site of the world-famous fashion week could not be left off the list. In addition to various fashion related events taking place with amazing frequency in New York, there are more brand stores in this city than you can shake a fist at. If you take a walk through the Garment District, the piece of Manhattan located between the Fifth Avenue and the Ninth Avenue, you can see the highest concentration of showrooms and fashion labels in the entire US. New Yorkers have a knack with fashion, so if you are looking for inspiration or just a good shopping spree, head out to the Big Apple.

    Milan

Milan is a great cultural and historical destination, but nowadays the number of fashion related attractions in this city probably outnumber the more ‘traditional’ attractions. Like in other fashion capitals of the world, there is an entire district in Milan dedicated to the pursuit of this art. Quadrilatero della moda is an area enclosed by four streets (Via Montenapoleone, Via Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia) where most of Milan’s fashion boutiques and fashion houses. Some of the most famous Italian shoe makers have shops on Via Montenapoleone.

    Los Angeles

Los Angeles’s Fashion District spans over more than 90 blocks, and it is the best place to go if you want to buy quality clothes and accessories for low prices. Many major American brands manufacture their goods in this part of Los Angeles, so there are several fashion warehouses where you can get the same things like in upscale stores, but for less money.

The problem with this fashion district is that there is some serious back alley shopping going on too, so if you are a fashion purists and don’t want any counterfeit goods, you should avoid Santee Alley, for example.

    Paris

Paris is the fashion capital par excellence, so there is no way it could miss from a list like this. Coco Channel, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Louis Vuitton and loads of other world famous designers have chosen Paris as their headquarters. Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré is practically the most fashionable street in the world, since it houses the stores of every major fashion label in the world.

Hmm, there are a lot of styles. Each style has its capital. For sure Berlin also belongs in this group of cities.
