This year Chinese New Year will be taking place on January 23, which means that if you are the kind of traveler who likes to plan a trip carefully (or if you want to make sure that you find some good travel deals by then), then you can already start planning for it. It doesn’t matter whether or not you celebrate Chinese New Year or the Gregorian New Year, celebrating it in China is guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience.

I’m talking about the Chinese New Year Night Parade, an internationally renowned event that draws people from all over the world the Hong Kong in order to see the brilliantly illuminated floats, the performances in Victoria Harbour, traditional lion and dragon dances and a huge street party.
Singapore
Singapore has a delightful mix of cultures and ethnicities among which Chinese is very prominent, so of course this happy go lucky city state celebrates the New Year in style. There is a huge array of events, ranging from the offbeat (stamp exhibitions, goldfish contests, spiritual advice) to carnivalesque parades and masquerades that include international performances of all sorts.

The Chinese capital has always put on some very interesting celebrations for New Year’s, although they sometimes might be more quiet then in other Chinese cities.
The centerpiece of the celebrations is the Temple Fair, an event that manages to combine perfectly tradition and modernity. The Peking Opera usually has some stunning performances, and other traditional events include tea culture displays.

The largest Lunar New Year celebration outside Asia takes place in sunny Sydney, and don’t believe for a second that only people with Chinese heritage event. The Chinese New Year is one of the year’s most exciting events for the whole population of the city. There will be markets, a New Year Twilight Parade and dragon boat races and a whole lot of fun on the street.

The streets sputter with activity, there are hundreds of stalls selling traditional New Year food and the fireworks never seem to end. At night the streets are decorated with lanterns and the city is filled with a genuinely magical air.
