Tudi in Travel Planning | NO COMMENTSTop 5 City Parks in USA
From the bohemian French Quarter in New Orleans to the skyscrapers of Chicago, US cities are offering a great diversity of urban landscapes. But no matter how dizzying the architecture or how intense the nightlife, there is always room for a breath of fresh air and a patch of green grass. Accidentally or nor, the biggest cities in the US are also the ones that have the biggest parks.
Their impressive size turn these city parks into authentic oases of relaxation; no matter how big the park, you will always find some unexplored corner, not to mention that, with all the entertainment and cultural facilities they encompass, these parks are bustling with events. The following city parks are, in our opinion, USA’s top 5:
Central Park, New York
New York City’s Central Park is very likely the most famous park in the world. Home to joggers, street artists, curious travelers of all nationalities and stressed Manhattan office workers alike, the park itself is a small universe.
The contrast between the green tree crowns and the tops of Manhattan’s sky scrappers creates a unique view. If you want to admire the park in its full splendor, make sure that you climb up the Metropolitan Museum’s roof terrace.
Fairmount Park, Philadelphia
Philadelphia is widely accepted as one of the most beautiful cities on the east coast; as for Fairmont Park in downtown Philadelphia, it is almost as old as the city itself. Now considered a historical monument, the Fairmount is home to the oldest zoo in the country, oldest botanical garden, as well as an impressive collection of public art.
Denver Park System, Colorado
With its 200 parks, Denver seems more like a city within a park that a city with many parks. Here in Denver you will get the greatest variety of parks: from the classical alley surrounded by trees, to sports parks, flower parks and even some beautiful mountain parks. One cam actually find a park for every hobby and activity, from nature photography and hiking to fishing or walking the dog.

From a citizen of Chicago’s perspective, Lincoln Park is far more than a public garden: this is the place where everything happens. During Chicago’s cultural summers, the park becomes the host of numerous fairs, concerts and festivals. Also, Lincoln Park represents an all year round sports complex, comprising facilities such as golf courses, tennis courts, fitness hall and even some horse riding section.
Golden Gate Park, San Francisco
San Francisco’s most famous park resembles the ‘City by the Bay’ under each single aspect: it is cosmopolitan, sophisticated and iconic. Some of the park’s most popular facilities are the Japanese Tea Garden, the Academy of Sciences and the AIDS Memorial Grove. Don’t miss the wooden and glass Conservatory of Flowers, considered to be the largest in the world.
