When it comes to preparations for New Year’s parties, it’s never too late to start. Not because a few months are not a reasonable time to prepare for a trip somewhere, but because if you want to make sure that you find reasonable accommodation and a decent party to attend, you will need to be quick before someone else snatches up all the best deals.
Destinations where the New Year’s is celebrated in style are extremely popular, so hurry and jump on the bandwagon while there are seats left! Here are top 5 cities for New Year’s celebrations in 2011.
Sydney, Australia
Sydney is a lively city at the best of times, but on New Year’s Eve it simply explodes. The heart of the action is Circular Quay, where there are fireworks, music, people dancing and general revelry. There are several good restaurants and clubs in the Quay area, so you can spend most of the evening enjoying a meal or some drinks, and pop out in time for the fireworks.
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
In Kuala Lumpur’s expat areas, New Year’s Eve is always a busy event. Although some parts of the city can see quiet, in areas such as Bangsar there are lots of restaurants and clubs where there are great parties held.
For fireworks, you shuld consider taking a walk in KLCC park, or lounging in a bar at a top of a tall building – there are plenty of places like that in the Malaysian capital.
Hong Kong
Although the Chinese New Year is the biggest celebration in Hong Kong, New Year’s Eve is not far behind when it comes to parties and fun. The countdown in Times Square is the focal point of the celebrations, with huge crowds and little space, but the best place to see the fireworks is Victoria Harbor. For parties, check out the offer in Lan Kwai Fong where there are boisterous parties every year.
Berlin, Germany
One of the biggest open-air New Year’s Eve parties in the world is organized in Berlin, with more than a million people gathering at Brandenburg Gate.
The evening starts with dancing and music, which continues until morning well after the fireworks are over. The party is free, and you can take away the chill by sipping mulled wine and indulging in international street food.
