The sunny island country of Malta is one of the most fun and scenic summer destinations in Europe. You might want to visit Malta if you are interested in its rich medieval history and architecture, but also if you are looking for some lively yet pristine beaches where you can lounge around and enjoy the sun.
Many hotels in Malta are located only minutes from beaches, but if you want to make sure that you get the best, here’s a list of the top 5 beaches in Malta.
Ghadira Bay, Mellieha
The village of Mellieha in northwestern Malta is an immensely popular tourist destination, and the nearby beach in Ghadira Bay is possibly the favorite of most people going to Malta.
The beach is wide and sandy, easily accessible from the village, while the sea is shallow is calm, so Ghadira Bay is understandably very popular with families and swimmers. You can take a break from sunbathing at one of the many cafes and terraces around the beach.
Golden Bay, Mgarr
Golden Bay, and its twin beach Ghajn Tuffieha are very close to the scenic village of Mgarr, as well as one of the biggest hotels on the island. Golden Bay is usually busy with lots of activities going on. You get ample space for beach ball or volley ball, and you can rent hydro-bikes for some fun in the water. Ghajn Tuffieha, the adjacent beach, is much more quiet and has some great views.
Gnejna Bay, Mgarr
Gnejna Bay is another beautiful beach close to Mgarr (5 minutes walk), but unlike Golden Bay, it is visited mostly by locals and less by tourists, which means that it is quiet and peaceful.
If you want a place where you can read a book and take a dip without too many people splashing around you, this is your best bet.
Paradise Bay, Mellieha
Paradise Bay is close to Ghadira Bay, but it is less crowded and more popular with young people, so there are frequently small beach parties held on weekends. If you are looking for a good snorkeling spot in Malta, Paradise Bay won’t disappoint. Although the beach is a bit secluded, there are lots of facilities and plenty of things to do.

Hi there, where is the bay in the very first picture on this site? The other beaches are named, except for the first picture, where there are some sailing boats… Where’s that place pls?
