Spring is the season when the urge to travel is almost irresistible, so why resist it? One of the main reasons why anyone would decide against traveling is the budget. Did the winter expenses, Christmas gifts and maybe even flu medicine dry up your funds?
If so, don’t worry, you can still go traveling, because there are lots of affordable places that are actually great destinations too. So if you feel like catching some rays now that it’s Spring, you should definitely consider going on a beach holiday. Here is our list of top 5 affordable beach destinations.
Destin, Florida
This stretch of sandy beach in the Gulf of Mexico is a well kept secret, and although it is not as popular as other beaches in the area, all the better. There are lots of opportunities for playing golf and tennis in the area, so going to the beach is not the only activity you can indulge in. If you like fishing, there are good chances to catch some fish on the beach, but if that’s not your cup of tea, you can just relax at a dockside cafe.
Hungtington Beach, California
Laguna Beach is not the only beach destination in California, and i you’re looking for something affordable, then it’s definitely not the right place for some fun in the sun. Huntington Beach, north of Laguna beach, is far more affordable, and it draws lots of surfers and assorted young crowds.
There are 8 miles of waterfront at Huntington Beach, so it won’t be difficult to find a quiet corner for yourself.
Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
If you want to find the most affordable beach destinations, here’s a tip that usually works: go wherever the surfers go. At Puerto Viejo, you won’t feel overwhelmed by the luxury of Four Seasons hotels and other five star accommodations, and you can comfortably rant a bungalow on the beach without breaking the bank.
Tulum, Mexico
Playa del Carmen, south of Cancun, used to be a paradise for backpackers a couple of decades ago, but five star resorts built in the area have pushed the budget travelers to the nearby town of Tulum. The town is known for its amazing Maya ruins, but it also has a fair bit of very nice beach too. Lots of budget lodgings, and good and cheap food.
