Louisville
Due to its location, Louisville is at the nexus of Southern and Midwestern cultures, and an utterly pleasant travel destination that has the best of both regions. Southern hospitality and cuisine blend with a vibrant arts and music scene, as well as some of the most beautiful parks in the US.
Louisville draws tourists all year round, which is not surprising, considering the vast number of year-round attractions in the city. So here are some of the most interesting attractions in Louisville, Kentucky.
Old Louisville

It is difficult to imagine that in the 70’s, large portions of the old part of the city were threatened with demolition/ Old Louisville is the best preserved and most beautiful spots of Victorian architecture in the entire United States.
Main and Market streets downtown have the largest collection of iron facade buildings dating back to the 19th century in the US. Take a walking tour though the old neighborhoods if you want to see a part of Louisville untainted by new developments.
Art Galleries and museums
If you are interested in art, there are scores of amazing galleries on Market Street, and if you are visiting on the first Friday of the month, you can visit them all for free. Main Street is the place to go for museums (the most interesting ones are the Slugger Museum, the Frazier Historical Arms Museum, Louisville Science Center and the Kentucky Derby Museum).
The Highlands
If you are not averse to a shopping expedition, or if you are looking for a place to eat, chances are that you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for in the Highlands, Louisville’s eclectic shopping/nightlife district. There are several high-end shops, fancy restaurants, as well as fast-food joints. Take a tour of the ‘Heart of the Highlands’, Bardstown Road and Bonnycastle, for all sorts of quaint local businesses.
Louisville Waterfront Park

After you’re done visiting the downtown area, take a breath of fresh air at the Louisville Waterfront Park, not far from the Louisville Wharf and the Riverfront Plaza/Belvedere.
You can relax among the green rolling hills, linear fountains (sometimes used for swimming), or attend free concerts and various other events. There is free wireless internet access throughout the entire park.

Belle of Louisville
The Belle of Louisville is the oldest steamboat owned by the city, and it is moored at the Louisville Wharf. The boat is nearly a hundred years old, and it is one of the most well known symbols of the city.
You can take a ride on the boat, or watch it during the annual Great Steamboat Races (which it won quite a few times).
